Hey y’all! I’m in Denver for a few days relaxing and hanging out with friends I haven’t seen since moving to Chicago. I’ve done a few photoshoots too and I can’t wait to show you what I’ve been up to.
Last night, I spent a very short hour catching up with a friend whom I haven’t talked to or seen since 2007 or 2008. She’s been living in Italy for the better part of the last 5 years and while email exists, let’s face it. I’m not too good at it. My point is this: it is entirely possible to pick up right where you left off and feel like no time has passed at all.
This is an important reminder for me. You may not hear from people for months or years. But it doesn’t mean that that person does not care or want to be your friend. Things happen. LIFE happens. People still care.
I interrupt the blogging of pictures for a very important reminder.
LIVEYOURLIFE. Because you know what? Nothing is better than real life. Away from the emails, the phone calls and the text messages. Because they can wait. Be PRESENT and engage in the conversation going on around you.
Y’all, I’m preaching to myself here more than anyone else. When I am over at a friends’ house and I hear that phone go off, I want to check it immediately. But I practice restraint and force myself not to. Because that friend deserves your complete and undivided attention. Human interaction is one of the most powerful things in the world.
Go hug your friends! Do something nice for someone!
My patience was definitely worth the wait. Waiting for 2 years to do a shoot that you just cannot stop planning or thinking about will make you crazy. The patience and the planning paid off! But I feel a little guilty because they made it so easy on me!
I love the way they look at each other, stand together and laugh together. Because you can see and feel the love radiating through them and no words even need to be said.
