They were very laid back and totally trusted us to do our job. The guys laughed all day over having to wear pink vests and ties! But that color made for a very gorgeous May wedding!

Candy & Bob | Sneak Peek | Chicago Wedding Photographer

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of getting to photograph Candy and Bob’s intimate gathering at the Catalyst Ranch. It was a beautiful event with their closest friends and family.

Homesick

I’ve always prided myself on being able to go new places feeling excited about my new prospects. When I started photographing weddings in Chicago, I left a little bit of my heart here each time I had to go home to Denver. In May 2011, I changed my life when I moved to Chicago. And for a year, I was busy enough between working 3 jobs and taking care of my life. In that year, I was not able to meet a lot of people. But never noticed my loneliness until now. Because I only work 2 jobs and have an extra 25 hours of time a week that was previously taken.

My trip to Denver in June was amazing! :) And I left most of my heart there when I left. For the last three weeks, I’ve been battling emotions of wanting/needing to move back. My family will always be there. But what about my best friends? Will they move on with their lives and forget that we are friends? I’ve suddenly been hit with wondering why it is that I wanted to move here in the first place. I MUST give being here a chance…a chance to meet people, a chance to re-discover my love of this city and why I chose Chicago.

I love the quote below about friends because I have to force myself to remember that we are all on a journey. Some people need each other and will be in your life and it doesn’t matter where in the world you are.

Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same.— Anonymous

One day, she stopped by to see me before flying home to Albuquerque and she had the biggest grin on her face. I knew what she was about to tell me…she met someone. And though they met in quite the unconventional way, they spent the next few years dating and getting to know each other. It was obvious they were happy.

She wanted to get married but never pushed the subject. In January, she told me that they were going to get married on February 29th in Las Vegas. Wait, what?! They weren’t even engaged. Well, they did get married and their wedding was perfectly them.

I’ve been observing them ever since we all started hanging out together. This time, I noticed something different. They are stronger. They are blissfully happier. They aren’t afraid to show the world they love each other. Watching them together just made me giddy. Because seeing raw love being displayed so naturally is something I can never get over.

Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your lives, for telling me “I told you so” when it is needed, and for being such a great example of how a relationship should work. I’m happy that we have remained friends for so long. Miss the two of you so much!
